Whole Heart Prayers

When life is uncertain, God is not.
God’s Got it. Pray until Peace comes.

Question: What is your biggest fear?

Five times I received the forty lashes minus one from the Jews. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I received a stoning. Three times I was shipwrecked. I have spent a night and a day in the open sea. On frequent journeys, I faced dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my own people, dangers from Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, and dangers among false brothers; toil and hardship, many sleepless nights, hunger and thirst, often without food, cold, and without clothing. Not to mention other things, there is the daily pressure on me: my concern for all the churches. 2 Corinthians 11:24–28.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4–7.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Philippians 4:4

We rejoice until God’s goodness is evident. We know it will come.

Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Philippians 4:5

Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

Prayer is not about God doing something for me, it is about God doing something in me.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

God’s Got it, so we pray until peace comes.

Question: What would you ask God for to remove your fear?

Praying for Peace.
Pray with your whole heart.
Make your request
Identify your motivation.

Teach me your way, Lord, and I will live by your truth. Give me an undivided mind to fear your name. I will praise you with all my heart, Lord my God, and will honor your name forever. Psalm 86:11–12.

Pray for others.

Replace your anxiety with prayer.

But when life is uncertain, God is not.
God’s Got it. Pray until peace comes.

Reflection
Pray, “God, here is what I request, now.”
Pray, “God, here is why I am asking, I am afraid that…”
