Stress Is Bad

“Don’t store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:19–21

Your life is too valuable, your calling too great, and your God too good to waste your life on meaningless things.

Spending without a plan will create stress.
Stress is bad.

Question: Do you have a budget? Do you struggle with finances? What are you willing to change about your life to remove the stress of financial burden?

Jesus calls you to manage your stuff in such a way that your generosity is the blessing.

Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over—will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38

Question: How does being generous become a blessing? Have you been able to give to someone who needed it? How did it affect you?

Prayer is prep for planning.

1. "God, give me self-control."
A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls. Proverbs 25:28

We may have to learn to say no for a little while. So we can say yes for the rest of our lives.

2. God, help me to recognize that Less is more.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; Hosea 4:6a ESV

3. “God, Give me a plan.”
The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. Proverbs 21:5

Spending without a plan will create stress.
Stress is bad.
