“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14–16.

Prayer is the practice of working together with God according to His will.

Our spirit is strengthened in prayer.
Our prayers are powered by God.

Question : Do you believe that prayer has power? Do you ever feel like your prayers are power-less? Why or why not?

Now he told them a parable on the need for them to pray always and not give up. “There was a judge in a certain town who didn’t fear God or respect people. 3 And a widow in that town kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ Luke 18:1-3
The judge, the widow, and the adversary.
“For a while he was unwilling, but later he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or respect people, 5 yet because this widow keeps pestering me, I will give her justice, so that she doesn’t wear me out by her persistent coming.’ ” Luke 18:4-5

6 Then the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 Will not God grant justice to his elect who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay helping them? 8 I tell you that he will swiftly grant them justice. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” Luke 18:6–8
He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the Lord’s unfailing love Psalm 33:5

Prayer is not passive.
I will not talk with you much longer, because the ruler of the world is coming. He has no power over me., John 14:30.

An answered prayer is a loss to the enemy.

Question: What is your experience when it comes to prayer?

Grow in spiritual power
Pray in and under the authority of King Jesus.
 Look, I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; nothing at all will harm you. Lk 10:19.
Remember, there is an adversary.
Look for confusion, division, and strife.
His tools are doubt and deception.
“Did God really say, ‘You can’t eat from any tree in the garden’?” Genesis 3:1

“No! You will certainly not die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “In fact, God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:4–5.

Pour out your heart to God.
for Vindication. to silence the enemy.
to bind Satan to rebuke Satan
Pray without ceasing.
because the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, Revelation 12:10.
Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18.
Our spirit is strengthened in our faith.
There is NOTHING that is too big to pray for.

We are to be a beacon for the community
A mighty Fortress is our God, A Bulwark never failing;
For still our ancient foe; Doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, And, armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal. Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing; Were not the right Man on our side, The Man of God’s own choosing: Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Our Spirit is strengthened in prayer. Our prayers are powered by God.
Reflection/Prayer
Take a minute to remember God’s work in your life.
