For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
Review:
Prayer is not about getting what I want. Prayer is about getting to know God.
Wise judgment promotes life, not devalues it.
The Good News isn’t that God saves us from our trials, it’s that he saves us from our sins.
Question: Do you think that God has a plan and a purpose for your life? What do you think that is?
This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the remaining exiled elders, the priests, the prophets, and all the people Nebuchadnezzar had deported from Jerusalem to Babylon. Jeremiah 29:1
The good news isn’t that God saves us from our trials, it’s that he saves us from our sins.
For this is what the LORD says: “When seventy years for Babylon are complete, I will attend to you and will confirm my promise concerning you to restore you to this place. Jeremiah 29:10
Our View Can Be Skewed
We want a God who gives joy without pain.
We want a God who makes us holy without trials.
We want a God who grants prosperity without suffering
Question: Now that you know the context of this scripture in Jeremiah, how do you see your future now? Do you think that God still cares?
What God Does Promise
Troubles and Trials
In fact, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
2 Timothy 3:12
For it has been granted to you on Christ’s behalf not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him, Philippians 1:29
He will be with you.
Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
His presence is more than enough!
Keep your life free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for he himself has said, I will never leave you or abandon you.
Hebrews 13:5
His plan is greater than any worldly threat.
Therefore, we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? Hebrews 13:6
You will call to me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:12
The good news isn’t that God saves us from our trials, it’s that he saves us from our sins.
