See, the virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel, which is translated “God is with us.” Matthew 1:23

God is With Us in the valleys.

Your deepest need will become a gift when it drives you to depend on God.

Question: Most of us have been through some kind of “wilderness” experience – or we are in one. How did you feel in the wilderness? 

Elijah experienced the protection of God, the provision of God, the presence of God.

But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he asked that he might die, saying, “It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.” 1 Kings 19:4

Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. 1 Kings 19:4

Sometimes we need more than rest, we need spiritual replenishment.

The Lord is my shepherd; I have what I need. He renews my life; 
Psalm 32:1, 3

All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again. 1 Kings 19:5-6

The angel of the LORD came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” 1 Kings 19:7

Question: When you feel “empty,” beyond exhausted, how do you fill your soul? 

Spiritual replenishment.

Quiet Time.

God, are you there?
God, do you love me?
God, what do you want me to do?
