Giving Is Good

Giving Is Good

“Don’t store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:19–21

Your life is too valuable, your calling too great, and your God too good to waste your life on meaningless things.

You will be enriched in every way for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us. 2 Corinthians 9:11

Giving is good because tomorrow matters.

Question: What do you find the most joy in? Giving a gift, or getting a gift? Why do you feel that way?

Three Reasons We Don’t Give

We are struggling
The message is abused.
We think we don’t have enough to share.

Question: Do you have a budget?
Do you struggle with finances? What are you willing to change to remove the stress of financial burden?

 How do We Make Change

We learn to trust God with the Tithe.

“Every tenth of the land’s produce, grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.
Leviticus 27:30

Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. Test me in this way,” says the Lord of Armies. “See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure. Malachi 3:10

2. Plan Your Generosity.
But generous people plan to do what is generous, and they stand firm in their generosity. Isaiah 32:8 NLT

3. Start Being Generous Now.

Because being a blessing is the better blessing.

One person gives freely, yet gains more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor. A generous person will be enriched, and the one who gives a drink of water will receive water. Proverbs 11:24–25

Giving is good because tomorrow matters.

#Reflection
How can I let God build trust in me to honor the tithe?
What steps can I take to plan my generosity?
What can I do to be generous right now?
