Engaging Others With Christ’s Love

Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice, for our sins. 1 John 4:10

Dear friends, if God loved us in this way, we also must love one another.1 John 4:11.

For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16.

  1. Receive it

  2. Determine to follow Jesus

  3. Walk it out.

  • The Love of Jesus changes us from the inside out.

Question: What does real, practical love look like to you?

…“My little daughter is dying. Come and lay your hands on her so that she can get well and live.” 24 So Jesus went with him, and a large crowd was following and pressing against him. Mark 5:23-24

27 Having heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his clothing. 28 For she said, “If I just touch his clothes, I’ll be made well.” Mark 5:27–28.

29 Instantly her flow of blood ceased, and she sensed in her body that she was healed of her affliction. Mark 5:29

30 Immediately Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched my clothes?” Mark 5:30

Healing power went OUT from Jesus.

Jesus sees you!

But he was looking around to see who had done this. 33 The woman, with fear and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him, and told him the whole truth. Mark 5:32-33

“Daughter,” he said to her, “your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be healed from your affliction.” Mark 5:34

Finally, all of you be like-minded and sympathetic, love one another, and be compassionate and humble, 1 Peter 3:8

Question: How does one “show” the love of Christ? How can we engage in Jesus' love with others?

How to show the love of Jesus.

  1. Ask God to open your eyes.
  2. Ask God to open your heart
  3. Take action

15 If a brother or sister is without clothes and lacks daily food 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, stay warm, and be well fed,” but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it? James 2:15–16.

Reflection

  • What action will you determine to take?
  • What hurt do you need to reach out to Jesus to heal?
