“Do not judge, so that you won’t be judged. For you will be judged by the same standard with which you judge others, and you will be measured by the same measure you use.” Matthew 7:1-2

Prayer is not about getting what I want. Prayer is about getting to know God.

Wise judgment promotes life, not devalues it.

Question: Do you see yourself as judgmental? Have you ever been called judgmental? What do you think it means to be “judgy?”

Why do you look at the splinter in your brother’s eye but don’t notice the beam of wood in your own eye? Matthew 7:3

Your harshest judgments reveal your deepest weaknesses.
-Pastor Craig Groeschel.

Hypocrite! First take the beam of wood out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take the splinter out of your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:5

Question: Who are the people helping you grow in your life? do they make accurate judgments about your behavior?

Do’s” and “Don’ts” of Judging

DON’T Judge Superficially.
Stop judging according to outward appearances; rather judge according to righteous judgment.” John 7:24

DON’T Judge Hypocritically.

When we point out the sin of others, we might be condemning ourselves.

Therefore, every one of you who judges is without excuse. For when you judge another, you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the same things. Or do you despise the riches of his kindness, restraint, and patience, not recognizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
Romans 2:1, 4
Your harshest judgments reveal your deepest weaknesses.

3. DON’T hold non-Christians to Christian standards.

For what business is it of mine to judge outsiders? Don’t you judge those who are inside? 1 Corinthians 5:12

4. DO the work of Restoration.

At some point, all of us are going to need some kind of restoration.

Truth is an accurate description of reality.
Grace is respecting other people enough to let them work through the process of growth.

Restoration in relationship.

go to the source
go with family,
treat them accordingly

Christians judge to correct and to care - not to condemn.

Brothers and sisters, if someone is overtaken in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual, restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so that you also won’t be tempted. Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:1-2

Wise judgment promotes life, not devalues it.
