For everything was created by him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through him and for him. Colossians 1:16

We are made for peace

We are made for community

Question: Who or what is the community that you are in? Do you have a friend or group of friends?

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth Genesis 1:1.
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Genesis 1:2.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. John 1:1–2.

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness” Genesis 1:26.

Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper corresponding to him.” Genesis 2:18.

We are Made for Community.

The Lord had regard for Abel and his offering, 5 but he did not have regard for Cain and his offering. Cain was furious, and he looked despondent. Genesis 4:3–5.

Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you furious? And why do you look despondent? If you do what is right, won’t you be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.” Genesis 4:6–7.
We are Made for Community.

Question: Has jealousy, anger, or frustration kept you from being with others, or kept you from helping others?

Community
Value Friendship
"Friendship is one of the most indispensable requirements of life. " – Aristotle

Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. Ecclesiastes 4:9

The wounds of a friend are trustworthy, but the kisses of an enemy are excessive. Proverbs 27:6

Be intentional.
Take risks.
Communicate to be understood.
Learn about you friends, as they learn about you.

Cultivate friendships
Proximity is the first step to presence.
Listen more, talk less.

In community you can find friends who
Can make you better
Help you find spiritual strength
And tell you the truth.

When we pursue community for all the world is better.

“I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34–35
