Sometimes happiness doesn’t look like what you think it does.

A disciple uses their strength to promote life, not to subject it.

Question: How do you define strength? Do you think of yourself as strong or not?

Then he began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the humble, for they will inherit the earth. Matthew 5:2-5 CSB

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5 NIV

Meekness is not weakness, it’s strength under control to foster life.

Patience is better than power, and controlling one’s emotions, than capturing a city. Proverbs 16:32

Question: Who is someone who exudes the kind of strength that Jesus is describing, in your life?

How to be Meek to be Strong

Patience
Understanding - that comes from the Holy Spirit of God.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5–6

Empathy - that identifies and feels with another’s emotions.

Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,
 Colossians 3:12

Emotional fortitude or G.R.I.T. - God’s perspective, Relationships, Integrity, Truth.

Forgiving nature
“For if you forgive others their offenses, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well. But if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your offenses. Matthew 6:14–15

Surrender.

Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross. Philippians 2:7-8
