“Perhaps the most obvious observation is that most unchurched people are not being pursued by anyone .– George Barna
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
Your City Your Region Your World
Seek Peace but Be Bold
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment. 2 Timothy 1:7
Our Bold Journey begins with small steps of prayer and love.
To be bold for Jesus, we must be curious about people.
Question: How observant do you think you are? Do you notice people around you in terms of what they may be going through?
… On that day a severe persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout the land of Judea and Samaria. Acts 8:1
An angel of the Lord spoke to Philip: “Get up and go south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (This is the desert road.) Acts 8:26
So he got up and went. There was an Ethiopian man, a eunuch and high official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of her entire treasury. He had come to worship in Jerusalem and was sitting in his chariot on his way home, reading the prophet Isaiah aloud. Acts 8:27-28
The Spirit told Philip, “Go and join that chariot.” When Philip ran up to it, he heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you’re reading?” “How can I,” he said, “unless someone guides me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. Acts 8:29–31
The eunuch said to Philip, “I ask you, who is the prophet saying this about—himself or someone else?” Philip proceeded to tell him the good news about Jesus, beginning with that Scripture. Acts 8:34–35
Being Bold isn’t about being our having all the answers.
IT’s about engaging others.
Question: Have you ever felt that internal urge to just stop and help someone? What do you think caused it?
Be curious to be Bold.
Notice
For this people’s heart has grown callous; their ears are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; otherwise they might see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, Matthew 13:15
Being bold requires a heart that NOTICES like Jesus does.
Ask Questions
Love is a command.
“This is my command: Love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12
Real Love starts with questions.
Listen
We are not curious. Mostly, we want to talk about ourselves.
God wants us to learn to be good listeners.
My dear brothers and sisters, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for human anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness. James 1:19–20
To be bold for Jesus, we must be curious about people.
Reflection.
Who is God calling you to be curious about?
Pray, “God, open my heart to see like Jesus.”
