Brothers, we ought to think of Jesus as we do of God... And we ought not to belittle our salvation. For when we belittle Him, we hope to get but little;…
Clement's Second Letter to the Corinthians

A “little Jesus” may go a long way, but it is not enough.

Question: Have you ever heard someone say, “That person needs a little Jesus?” Have someone ever told you that? What do you think about the idea of “a little Jesus?”

Jesus identified the need of the people.

“You give them something to eat,” he responded. Mark 6:37

Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii, worth of bread wouldn’t be enough for each of them to have a little.” John 6:7

Everyone ate and was satisfied. They picked up twelve baskets full of pieces of bread and fish. Now those who had eaten the loaves were five thousand men. Mark 6:42–44

Jesus replied, “This is the work of God—that you believe in the one he has sent.” John 6:29

Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, Moses didn’t give you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
John 6:32

“I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in me will ever be thirsty again. But as I told you, you’ve seen me, and yet you do not believe.
  John 6:35–36
The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day, because my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. John 6:54–55

“Little Jesus" is for a day. JESUS is forever.
“Little Jesus” is temporary. JESUS is eternal.

Question: What do you have, that you think is not enough? What could God do with your “not enough” that might be more than enough?

My dear brothers and sisters, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger, James 1:19

A little Jesus may go a long way – but it is not enough.

#Reflection

What do I have to offer?
Where is Jesus already at work?
If I join Jesus in the world, who should I invite to go with me?
